About us
This blog is telling our journey of clicker training horses.
We are a family of 3 people: Geoff, Anette and Caelan. We have six horses in our family, some rescue, some old some young, some trained traditionally, and one young horses who has only ever been trained using clicker training.
We believe that any horse can be crossed-over to gentle, cooperative, non-force-based training.
Horses
Hrima
Hrima is an Icelandic mare, born in 2002. She was ridden in traditional ways (with bit and saddle), until she came to us in 2012. She is opinionated, energetic, enthusiastic and gets frustrated easily. Geoff does most of the training and riding with Hrima, although Anette has done some.

Paufi
Paufi is an Icelandic gelding, born in 1992 in Iceland. He is amazing, kind, cooperative and safe. Anyone can have a fantastic ride on him. Caelan is Paufi’s main rider.

Pipar
Pipar is an Icelandic gelding, born in 2010. He was mostly untrained when he came to us in 2014. He is very energetic and very keen to train. He would train all day, if we let him. Anette has done nearly all of the training with Pipar.

Speights
Speights is a Clydesdale-bush pony cross gelding who was born in 2006. He has suffered some horrible treatment in his past and was very shut down when he came here. He was also very fat. He is progressing very nicely with clicker training.

Tui
Tui is a very old (mostly) thoroughbred mare. Anette used to compete in show jumping, dressage and eventing with her. Tui was always ridden with bit and saddle, but she retired in 2011. However, she started doing clicker training in February 2016.

People
Anette
Has been around horses all her life. She has competed and trained a number of horses, of various breeds and ages. Anette used to use traditional training methods, but has since 2009 discovered the joys of clicker training.
Anette works as a scientist.
Caelan
Caelan started riding when he was 3 years old. He has only ever ridden using clicker training. Even at his young age, Caelan can clicker train and has, among other things, taught Paufi to stand up to the trampoline so that Caelan can jump on.
Geoff
Geoff hadn’t been around horses until he met Anette. He started riding regularly in 2012. He has only ridden using clicker training.
By day, Geoff is a scientist.
